Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. Little story about me (maybe not little, lol) About ten years ago I got into internet marketing, I spent months building websites, testing and advertising affiliate programs. I had built an email list of about 30 people, but I wasn't making any money so I quit. About a month after I quit trying, I got a check for $65 form an affiliate sale. It made me think about trying to stick with it but by then I was working three jobs 97 hours per week. I had spent so much money on trying to learn how to make money online,(yeah I spent thousands) now I was trying to pay off all my credit card debt. I had no time to even sleep let alone go back to trying to make money online. I thought when I get some time I would try again. But life went on and I never took the time to get back into it. Now 10 years later, I had to have shoulder surgery. I hurt my shoulder from lifting so much at my job with a newspaper delivery company. So that has slowed me right down, for now(lol). Since I have so much time right now I am back at my computer day and night trying again. I look forward to reading all the posts on this site and learning and sharing with all of you. What is your story?

Sometimes I forget that not all people are like me. Not everyone has the technical and other skills that are required for some types of affiliate marketing. The wrong type of affiliate marketing can be too difficult for your average non-technical people. I would say it is not your fault. Many of the so-called gurus out there make it sound much easier than it really is. I mean, it can be pretty simple if you are an Internet marketer, but most people are not. I am tired of all the hype out there misleading people. Good for you to hang there like you are. Most people give up. You have to go for it in life. Any other way is not really living. Again, welcome to the site. Jamison |

Man, I so believe that! The hype of some marketers is terribly misleading and has only served to line their pockets with money from innocent people who would have been better off spending elsewhere. I'm sorry to hear of your experience, AffiliateAction. It is not unlike my own, although I didn't spend thousands of dollars. This is exactly why the terms affiliate marketing, network marketing and multi-level marketing are terms looked at with great disdain by many people. They may envy the money that some marketers have made, but in their hearts, they believe it was gained dishonestly. That very thinking held me back for many years from developing any marketing skills. You can actually wind up thinking that the only way to make money online is to be a liar and a cheat. Slightly overboard obviously, but I've had people actually say that to me. I have put that behind me, though. It all started with the company I started with late last year. They have such a different model and different mission; they do not make their money off of 'sales material' that affiliates have no choice but to purchase, but rather on the sale of formulas they develop themselves and which they insist must deliver a wellness experience for the user before they will bring them to market. That's first and foremost. They believe that there is no reason to produce mediocre products and work against your affiliates to make money. And they must be right, because they've been around for over a decade now. If you have a product of value, if you represent a company of high ethical standards, and if you stick to the high road yourself and always have in mind the interests of your prospects rather than simply the dollar value of each sale, you can be successful. Anyone who does otherwise, may achieve financial success... but at a cost to their personal growth. Sooner or later, that will come back and bite them. Tula |
