Hey all... Just wanted to know your thoughts on the overall best font to use when creating a site. What sells and is most pleasing to the eye?? |

Not so much font as I like to change up the color instead of going all black, I like the to put the headline in big red letters. I think it captures the the web visitiors attention better. Just my opinion.

It depends on your purpose and the image you want to convey. San serif fonts are easy to read and look very modern. Serif fonts convey tradition. If you're going with a serif font, choose Georgia. It was designed to print clearly and look good. (I print lengthy webpages to read offline, so this is a high priority for me.) If you're choosing a san serif, I favor Tahoma, but Arial is universally good, too. I'd try each of them to evaluate the visual impression and readability on your screen and a few others. |

For web design the most readable font is Verdana - this was specifically designed for Microsoft as a font that would be very readable at small sizes. This makes it ideal for the copy on your website. Georgia would be the best serif to use, but serif fonts aren't so good on screen at small sizes. Great for headings though. Steer clear of Arial and Comic Sans. Arial is a poorly designed font and not especially readable - you should always choose Helvetica over Arial. Comic Sans is also very poorly designed and can make a site look very poorly made. There are some great font websites out there. Do a search on Google for web typography and you'll find lots of pointers. Good luck! |

Also it's always good to increase the leading, or line-height, of your text. For example, if you're using 12px Verdana, a good line-height would be 14 - 16px. This increases readability.
