Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
For many people is the hardest part to keep marketing until you start seeing results.Even a small sale will encourage you to work even harder. People want to see results instantly without doing any marketing, get discouraged and quit.

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
The first obstacle I had was learning the difference between Marketing and Advertising. I posted my lead capture page in numerous traffic exchanges, and posted many classified ads, but wasn't getting too many results from it. Through training with my program I learned that advertising wasn't enough to get qualified leads. People only saw my system, and they weren't signing up, or were signing up then falling off because they didn't know nor trust who I was. Now I am starting to branch out into marketing, I am joining a few forums not just to get my name and personality out there, but to gain a few tips to marketing since I am so new to this.
Now my biggest problem is my blog. I see how it can be key to marketing, but I can't seem to get it up and running. I tried setting up an RSS feed, but even though people were coming to it, they weren't signing up for the feed. I got discouraged and stopped posting as often. Now its been a month and I haven't posted at all. I really need this leg of marketing, so if anyone can help me in designing it (its in blogspot) I would appreciate it!!!

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
As a mother of two and business owner my biggest obstacle is balancing work and family. I want to be successful and order to do that I do have to market and other things, but I want to make sure that the reason that I work at home is not forgotten.

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
I find that the biggest obstacle for us is finding good advertising to get people to our site. I think that we are in a good company, with a promising opportunity to make a lot of money, but the hits we are getting aren't "sticking". Thus, I am not able to even pursue our prospects any further. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
Melissa,
There are a couple of key factors for converting visitors into prospects.
First of all, do you have a strong, appealing lead capture page that is branded for YOU? Visitors are more likely to become prospects if they can 'connect' with you...be it through seeing your picture, or a video of you welcoming them to your business presentation, or an audio, or even a short text bio. The design of your lead capture page will have a huge impact on whether or not people opt-in.
Second, WHO is visiting your website, and from where? Do you have a tracking mechanism to see where your visitors are coming from? The key here is to be driving QUALITY traffic to your website...you can have the best lead capture page in the world but if most of your visitors are 13-year olds looking for sites on gaming, you aren't going to generate any serious prospects.
There are many ways to drive quality traffic to your site. I personally recommend that you do your OWN marketing through search engine optimization, blogging, press releases, articles, Squidoo, HubPages, viral video s, social networking, and email marketing.
Also...if you do have a marketing budget, be careful where you spend it. Most paid advertising sucks, especially internet advertising. Offline advertising is surprisingly powerful and effective...but pricey too.
Good luck...

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
Mellissa,
What Rob explained, and was trying to say, is that you have to learn the difference between Marketing and Advertising. With the training that I am getting in the program below, I learned that although Advertising; getting your link and/or lead capture page out there, is important, you have to learn to market yourself on the internet as well. You have to get the person to trust you, not just your product/service. Its the same in real life, most people usually don't purchase a new product until someone they know and trust has tried it and given it a good review. In short, with marketing you get the people to trust your opinion, through that you get them to trust your product. Its done through the methods that Rob described above.

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
I've come back to post yet another difficulty I am having, and I hope that you guys can help me out. The biggest thing I have to deal with is family believing that I am wasting my time on a scam. First, they believe all internet opportunities are scams and a waste of time. It doesn't make it any better that I am just beginning in this marketing thing, and not getting good results just yet. My grandmother, once she comes home from her job, thinks of everything imaginable to get me off the computer. Asking me to do stuff, asking 50 million questions. I have tried to explain what I do to her many times before, and it never sinks in. Even when I was doing project payday before this, and I was getting money, she had something negative to say about that. Now that I am marketing this new project, and haven't got anything to show for it as of yet, its even worse. How do I get it through her head that this is not just some game that I am playing, this is my future! I don't want her to sign up, rather I am not trying to get her to sign up, just understand so she can leave me to learn what I need to, so I can get this business off the ground???

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
If you truly haven't put any money into the system than how is it a scam. Some people are skeptical no matter what and there is nothing that you can do. I would just tell her that although you appreciate the fact she doesn't want you to fall victim to a scam you are an adult and need to learn on your own-you don't feel that this is a scam and you just need her to be patient. If it turns out that she is correct and you don't make any money than admit that. Also I would point out that you made money in your last venture and she did not support you with it. Tell her you just need support.
I also dealt with the skeptics in my family. They usually come around, but some don't. GOOD LUCK and keep working to prove her wrong.
GOD BLESS

Re: What is your Most difficult obstacle for your Home Business?
Lack of support is a fairly common, and frustrating, obstacle, Drknlvly.
It sounds like you are encountering what we call in this industry a 'Dreamstealer'...a friend or relative whose negativity threatens your success and tries to 'steal your dreams'.
I have a young lady in my business whose husband kept telling her that she was wasting her time, that the money she had invested to get on board was money wasted...then she shut him up by buying them a new grill with some of the profit from her first sale.
The BEST way to put a sock in that dreamstealer's mouth is to keep an unshakable positive mindset and attitude, market your business, follow up with your prospects, and make sales. When you are successful, no one can criticize you, or if they do, you can just laugh at them for being small and petty.
For right now, what I recommend is that you set aside a private area to use as your workplace, and make it clear that you are working on your business and not to be disturbed. Be firm about this, and depending on your relationships and personal preference, you can either politely ask people who are being negative to keep their negativity to themselves, or tell them to STFU if you are obnoxious like me
Hope that helps!

Well, to be completely honest I did put money into the system, but the way it works is that once you qualify, they pay you that money back. I've already received that check, but to keep things simple I just tell her that I didn't pay anything. (Wasn't that the end result lol?)
She doesn't support anything I do. Last week I was talking about American Idol and she flat out said that I wouldn't make it. That hurt. I haven't sung professionally in a while, so I let that dream go, but I won't let this go because I know I can make it, just as soon as I figure out this marketing thing and get some sign ups. I feel like if I can get a steady income out of this, which I know I can, she would actually leave me alone. Also I wouldn't have to be on the computer so long.
