Default Unnecessary to open old threads

Hello Friends,
Just like to give an idea for this forum.
One of the problems (I think this is a problem, may be others not ) of the forum is dragging of old threads. Some people are dragging old threads just for spamming and some people do it accidentally. I personally feel that dragging an old thread is really unnecessary sometimes.

I would like to put a proposal for this forum. Can we implement something so that when people will try to post any comment on a one-year or older thread, they will get a warning like “This thread is One Year Old” or something like that.

I think this can prevent the genuine users of this forum to comment on and help to find out people those are doing this for spamming or just to increase number of post.

I don’t know whether this idea is good or not, but thought I should share this with you all.

Regards

Hi SheRocks, it was nice of you to make that suggestion and it could be that you're right about people spamming.

On the other hand, they may genuinely want to comment on a thread they've never read before. I know when I first came to the forum, I read a number of older threads and found something to say in a bunch of them. lol

Hopefully, people don't bother cluttering up the board with too many "I like this - I agree with that" type of statements, though. As Jamison pointed out in the Rules there is a Thank You button at the bottom of every post that's very useful for that. It's time consuming for other members to go through a whole forum of newly flagged posts to find most of them just a thank you message. And if new members think they will gain points with administration that way, they will find that is definitely not the case.

I am new to the forum myself and have found some very useful information in past threads just like Tula and I am sure many of us here as well. I don't think that old threads should be deleted because we can all benefit...PLUS, I am sure that half of those people are no longer using the forum.

Sometimes its useful, sometimes bad

Useful: when an old thread comes up due to some one writing a comment on it, helps re-collect old but gold posts.. some times such posts come up that are really helpful even now and they are hard to find.

Bad: when these comes up due to spammy, worthless, useless posts.. the threads lose their value..but some how, still they come up..

IMHO, it should be ok to comment but only if that adds something relevant to the post itself..just for spamming or other one liners its bad as always to bump those..
