Thumbs down Warning- Don't get scammed by the following!

I posted products for sale on Craigslist and was contacted by Ceasar Parks L Davis email cesar.sean_family@yahoo.com. He offered to send me a check that would cover an item and shipper costs to send out of state. When I got the check i called his bank. They had a similar account but NOT his: Hand & Association, Inc. Frost bank said they had no account attached to the check. I emailed the man back and told him, he sent several threatening emails back to me telling me to deposit the money in my account and wire the balance to the shipper. Both this man and the shipper are now being investigated for internet fraud, UP Postal Fraud and Bank Felonies. Sadly since he did not get away with it with me, his crimes are intent rather than full punishable level. Someone is going to fall for this- I tried to send an email out of curiosity to see if it would go thru this week and it kicked back. Either he has changed his free account or blocked me but in any event BE CAREFUL! Per Craigsllist- any deal which instructs you to utilize sending a portion of cash received via Western Union is probably a scam and should be fully investigated. Also, I even sent a copy of the check to Frost Bank and having it in hand they denied any open account. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

Great heads up kathp.

Remember you posted products on Craigslist and
any correspondence from there should be about
your product and nothing else.

If you check out my blog, some scammers even
used the contact button to email me their scams
but I should know better.

Don't ever accept any money from someone telling you to wire it to someone else. That's a certain sign of a scam. They'll send you fake cashiers cheques that look real and a lot of bankers won't know the difference so they'll cash it for you because the law says they have to if they don't know it's a fake. That's why scammers send you cashiers cheques. But once the bank figures out that it's not a legitimate check, which usually takes a couple of days, maybe longer, then it will be you that has to cover the loss. That's all they're trying to do. They don't care about the product that you're selling. They're just trying to get money from you by sending you fake cashiers cheques and having you wire that money to someone else.

Yes there are plenty of companies out there that are legitimate. The thing is to do your research once you have found a company that you are interested in to make sure that you haven't got a scam on your hands. An easy way to get feedback on any online opportunity is to go to google and type the company's name+scam. You should encounter several forums with postings about that company. Now, the research doesn't end there. Once you have that go into a couple of forums and look at the actual posts. The idea is to determine if the people saying that this company is a scam are making legitimate complaints, or did they not follow a good marketing plan and gave up.

But to continue what everyone else has said, any person or company asking you to cash a check and then send them the money from it is a scammer, no matter how legitimate it may seem. I knew this from the first time I ever saw one of these e-mails. My problem with it was, if you have so much money, and are such a prominent person, then why do you need me to cash your check? Do they not have banks in your country? From jump you know that's a lie, so I never thought twice about doing this for anyone.

About Craigslist. Here is another scam that is happening. Or at least Spam. My husband has been in the automotive painting industry for 10 years now as a robotic technician/paint technician and we are trying to make extra money by painting cars/trucks cheaply(but still done correctly-win win situation). We posted a Wanted ad on Craigslist and have gotten everything from people sending us I found what you want on Ebay to their google pages. I think that anyone doing this is either a scammer(there are some on Ebay) or a SPAMmer. Either way it is annoying.
