That is the saddest thing I have ever heard. Scamming elderly people out of their money is disgusting. I actually know a girl on another forum that was sent a check for $6,000, and instructed to put it in her checking account, keep $4,000 for her percentage, and send the rest in a money order to some other company. She did take it to the bank, but she didn't cash it, her bank put a hold on it to see if it was legit, and sure enough it was not. The check was a copy of a bank check from somewhere in West United States, and apparently the account had been closed for some time. Thank goodness she had the wits about her to spot it as a scam, otherwise she would have ended up having to pay her bank $6,000.

They also like to share information amongst the scammers, so you will get 3 or 4 of these things in one day... they sit in internet cafes in Nigeria and try to scam people all day long! Horrible...

I hate those scam emails! They're so dumb! I always wonder how can anyone ever fall for them...
FYI, you can report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3)

Take note if you received an email from Paypal without your name on it, its a spoof...

It should read Dear Your Name instead of Dear Paypal Member

You can have a little fun with these people. Play along and make them think that it's working, but DON"T give them any money or valid personnel info.

If you are seeking jobs through employment agencies online..Beware! of the more affulent scammers who pay the necessary fees to operate through these legitimate agencies. They actually pose as personnel managers with huge corporations that have so many branches worldwide its almost impossible to spot them at a glance.

Their game is the same as these others who ask you to collect funds on behalf of "the corporation" they will even give you phone numbers and send the email with a letter head and a copy of the companies logo.

When you collect the funds in a "check" from one of these so called clients of there's and you then lodge it to your account, after which they instruct you to hold back a portion for your commission fees and send the balance to them via your account.

So people please be extra careful....they come in all colors and sizes.

Also please note the some people get caught by believing that when the bank said the check clear it is totally cleared. The Bank can still reverse a deposit even weeks after they clear it for use. Make sure the bank has collected the funds, not just may the money available to be withdraw.
