Default Newbie Blues

Hey, I am a newbie and want sooooo bad to start an IM business! I don’t know what is blocking me from getting started but I read, and read, and read but I find that I get overwhelmed by the so called step by step ways to my your first $$$$ on line. I know there are many different way to get started but I find that there are holes in the information and I still don’t know how to get started... It’s been an on going process for over a year now and I feel I am spinning my wheels on e-book after e-book, report after report and program after program. Maybe I am putting too much into it and can’t see the forest for the trees.... I need a solid way to put things together to even get a site live so that I can at lest say I made it to first step. I need help!

Just pick a good product to promote with lots of broad appeal (high traffic niches + impulse buys are perfect)... advertise it where the people who'd buy it likely are, and qualify the traffic by making them take AN ACTION (opting in, clicking through a link, etc...) and then make the pitch to only the qualified traffic. People buy because of emotion, so mix emotion with SOLID content that would be helpful to them. Also, never surprise people with sales pages. You are never going to sell anything if you direct all your cold traffic to a lame Clickbank offer.

NeverGiveIn, I feel for you! I remember doing the same thing.... and feeling the same way. Experience has taught me that the easiest way to get started is to become an affiliate of a solid company that provides all the sales materials you need and the 1 - 2 - 3 step system to promote the product. There should be a minimal learning curve so that you can start earning right away.

Then you can earn while you continue your learning process.

If you'd like any specific help on a home based business and how to develop it, I'm just a PM away.

It sounds like you just need to get moving. If you have been researching IM for a year, then you have to know something about IM by now. Just start small. Find a product you want to promote. Research the keywords. Then write articles based off of those keywords and setup a simple program. Rome wasn't built overnight, and IM works the same way.

If you still don't know where to begin after a year, then maybe this isn't for you. After spending a little time here, my mind is just spinning with a thousand different things I want to do. IM is not necessarily for everyone. Some people just don't take action, and some people can't wait to take action! I don't know what category you fall into, but i would pick one way to make money and stick with it for awhile. You might be surprised with the success you have.

I know where you are coming from the net is just so confusing for people wanting to start up with an internet business without getitng the help. One of my projects is a solution to this due for launch Dec/Jan, so if you want I'll keep you posted (pm me)

You've clearly done your research, I think the key message now is to 'take action'. Unless you start something youa re never going to make any money, and you dont need to worry about having everything perfect before you start - because nobody ever does. Making the mistakes is part of the learning - you can still make money as you go - but TAKE ACTION!

You can't see the forrest for the trees because you are, quite honestly, not looking in the right direction.
Stop buying every WSO, special report..... signing up to each new free offer. These are only money takers and time wasters.

You need a solid plan to put things together. Good. Here is your assignment for the week.

1. Decide what it is that YOU want.
2. Go fnd how you can acheive what YOU want.
3. Find a decent web reseller account that you can afford.
4. Register domain names as and when you can afford them.
5. Build sites on those domain names... any kind of sites, authority sites, review sites, wordpress blogs....... whatever..... just go get on with it and do it.
6. Make sure you can link payment buttons to your sales pages for your products.
7. Make sure that if you are just being an affiliate for others products, your affiliate links are working on the order pages.
8. Start building your own mailing list..... you know about squeeze pages don't you?
9. Decide what it is that YOU want.

Rinse and repeat..............

Study who YOU think is successful, not from their postings here, but from their site stats, use the tools that are available, google, alexa, wayback machine etc.

You will be surprised at what you find.

And remember "All that glitters is not Gold".

Yes, you need help, but the only person to really help you is yourself.

Stop trying, and start doooooooooing!

Good luck and Get on with it.

I agree. I think that is great advice. Action is clearly needed.

The first step is always scary, but you just have to take it. The best advice I can give you is to make like Nike says and "Just do it!"

1. What are you passionate about or at least interested in?
2. Research to see if it is a profitable niche.
3. Build a website making sure you SEO it and collect list opt-ins from day 1
4. Ideally make, or have made a product, or find products to promote
5. Use PPC and other free methods such as articles, social, forums to start acquiring visitors.

Keep going whatever happens and do not be obsessed with monthly income - it will come.

Of course you will need to learn PPC, article marketing, list building etc, bt all the information is right here in these forums.

You need to offer something of value. Do you have anything to offer? Do you know how to create something valuable? If not, can you find something of value made by someone else and resell it yourself? Becoming an affiliate means becoming a small fish in the food chain. I don't recommend you do that.

You need a way to distribute the value you want to offer. Do you know how to put a website up and running? If not, you don't need any ebook to teach you how. Simply search Google on how to install a wordpress blog or create any other type of site.

You need a way to attract people and convince them of the value you're offering. Most IM products will focus on this will neglecting other important parts.

You're failing because you're looking for an opportunity. You need to start thinking about it from a businessmen perspective, not an opportunity seeker. The only problem you're trying to solve is "how do I make money" while you should be thinking from the perspective of your potential customer. What problems do they have and how can you solve them?
