For those of you running a small outfit, what tools do you use to drum up attention? Sometimes it’s annoying, the way clients think. Put up a cheap ad in the paper or on tv, people think you’re cheap and low-quality. Open up an 800 line, people complain that they never get in touch with you. Allow them to call you directly, they ask “why can’t you afford a secretary?!” (I get this, seriously) It’s like you can’t get a break.

Them’s the breaks, dude. You’ll never make ‘em all happy. Have you tried an advanced 800 line? It’s a virtual phone that has “play it on mobile”, that routes voicemail to your cell, so you won’t miss any messages at least. You can also hide the size of your operation with a gotvmail. It uses an auto-answer that can route calls to departments by extension, even if it’s just you. At least it’ll make them think you’re more organized.

I look at it this way. I work from home- the opportunity is great and the income potential is awesome, but it takes time. If a client has a problem with that then they don't need me to help them. It is their loss not mine.

The thing is, you can never please all of the people all of the time. If you are having success in the methods you are using, then continue on! Don't worry about what some people think, they probably wouldn't be very good customers nor associates anyway. Remember the "SW" rule, "Some will, some won't, so what? Because Someone else is always waiting!" |
