Okay, here's my current dilemma An old friend of my family has just bought a very large warehouse of clothes, glass items, candles, etc., and he has approached me to sell them for him. I was thinking of opening an ebay store. Sounds like a really good way to make money to me, he'll supply the products, and I get a 50% cut for handling the selling. I just wondered if anyone has done this. I've sold on ebay before, but never so many products at once. Is it hard to keep up with? I don't want to have to dedicate all my time to this, but I really do want to give it a try. Anyone who has experience or advice, as always, I greatly appreciate it. Thanks |

I too have sold only an item at a time. But not what you have asked for. Let me have an answer after consultation with my friends. |

Vanessa, if you do too many things all at once, even the simplest things like sleep is hard to catch up with... An eBay store with that approach is good.

The biggest problem i faced with selling Ebay items was the time it takes to actually wrap the items up and ship them out. It was taking up half of my day, especially when the postal office was miles away |

The shipping aspect of it concerned me, as well. My son, who is 16, has been thinking about taking a part time job, and I've enlisted him to help with the shipping. I'm thinking about doing shipping only 2 or 3 days a week. He'll package everything up for me, and all I'll have to do is drop it off at the post office.

Shipping only 2 0r 3 days, will severely affect your business, as the customers expectation is around 24 hours turnout time after clearing payment. Nobody is willing to wait for a weeks time to have the goods delivered in his place. Take this also in your consideration Vanessa |

Vanessa, i know the solution... move to a house beside the postal office.. LOL ok ok... i was joking. There's a way around that Vanessa. Don't do a buy now auction instead end the auctions the day before you plan to send for shipping and mention next day shipping and mention that expect the item to arrive withing 10 days and when the item arrives earlier, you would have "overdelivered" = happy customer.

That's a very good idea, Fendi. Thanks. By the way, I already live next door to the post office No, really I do only live about 5 miles away, and it's on the way to my children's school, where I travel every morning anyway, so the trip to the post office really doesn't pose that much of a problem.

To help manage, keep track of inventory, and send out auto messages to your customers , I highly reccomend using an outside service. The one I use is vendio.com
