Sure Mandy.

I received an email from a 'marketer' that apparently YouTube has cracked down on people who are using their services to network market and hence make money. According to the email some have woken up to find their entire collection of videos has been canceled. (This is referred to as a 'slap'.)

Since I see lots of network marketing videos, I wondered if this is true... or some kind of marketing ploy to make me think I can't live without their subscription that will expose all the big secrets on how to avoid this dreadful calamity happening to me.

Since this information came in an autoresponder message and no date was given as to when this started happening, for all I know it was 5 years ago. If at all. Just thought I'd check it out here on a forum where people actually know stuff.

A lot of people are getting slapped on Youtube, but it usually related to something they are doing wrong. I could see this happening if people are uploading the same corporate type videos over and over. I have not seen any evidence of this myself.

I agree. People that are getting deleted are doing something that is crossing the line somewhere. Some people think it is ok to upload the same videos over and over with different keywords, but that is spamming.

Another thing people do is stuff a bunch of keywords into the description when they don't have anything to do with the video. This causes the video to come up under searches that it shouldn't and takes away from the quality of the results. It is just like old search engine spamming. Ultimately, Youtube is going to have to clean that up.

You have some great insight on the subject InformationJunkie. I didn't know about the Youtube slap!

Thanks, InfoJunkie... this is basically what I thought as I know you can get nailed by Google for the same thing. For this reason I was somewhat skeptical when I read the email that I received. Sometimes people are quick to blame someone else for problems of their own making.

But the most important thing about this is that it demoralizes the credibility of the marketing system that I've been receiving by autoresponder. They implied that this is something happening across the board and that without their help you'd for sure lose your videos.

Don't have much use for that kind of marketing.

I don't believe there is a slap directed at network marketers. Sounds like fear-based marketing. Which can be very effective, but isn't always ethical unless it is 100% grounded in truth. What were they proposing as a solution?
