I have a question for all of you experts out there: I was thinking about outsourcing some work to an Indian company...has anyone ever done that before? Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated! thanks! |

Do you have any references for this company or seen any their work? They should be able to provide some samples of their work. I think outsourcing things are great because it frees up your time. They may be able to help out in a weak area. Just be sure to do your due diligence on the company and you should be fine. Me for example, I know a weakness I have is graphic design. If I had enough money I would gladly outsource my design of my blog to make it look better. |

Outsourcing is a good way to do business ... ...there is no problem if company is in good reputation. |

If you can find some good quality workers who can speak and understand English well enough then sure it can work. I've got 3 guys in India I work with on a case by case basis. Sometimes I just don't have the time or energy to do the work myself so I send it to 1 of them, look over what they did and then send it off to the client. Best way to handle it from my own experience. Get several people who specialize in 1 area. Then give them very specific tasks and a reachable deadlines. I've tried a couple guys who said they could do it all, and in their defence they could, just the quality of their work wasn't up to my standards or they took way to long. Bottom line. It can work depending on the effort YOU but into it. Don't think you can pass it off and get gold. |

I outsource some things to guys in India but you have to spend some time to find one or two that will give you the quality you want. The pricing is generally very good and if it's not some kind of Holiday, the turn times are decent as well. |

So bottom line is not so much whether the company is Indian or not, but rather whether they can produce the quality you want within the time frame you want at a cost you can afford. If you can establish with reasonable certainty that your prospective company can fulfill these 3 criteria, you're set. Tula |

I worked for an educational institute in Zurich a couple of years ago. We were competing with others in the western world both as telecallers and in the market. We outperformed the others so much so that other types of work was transferred to India not just because of cost considerations.

I tried hiring some Indian companies thru elance. Not all of them are reliable and satisfactory. But by reviewing their service record and comments from other customers, you should be able to get more ideas before hiring. Anyway, I do think it worths outsourcing when you find a reliable service provider in a long run.

| I have done a lot of outsourcing over the years. I have had people from various parts of the world, including India. It can be challenging to find the right company and/or people. I have been able to save money, but there are many hassles as well.

I agree with everyone's opinion here. It's difficult to find good workers and then be able to trust them with their word that they are doing the work and hours they say they are. Maybe find a referral of someone that has already done business with a reputable company overseas. It could save you a lot of hassle and heartache.
