Most outsourcing platform now provide a feedback system similar to that in eBay. That could be a way to check the reliability of the service provider when we might not know a lot of friends in the same field who can recommend something.

If possible it is a good idea to get a referral from someone who has used the company and been satisfied with their work, otherwise you don't know what you are getting into.
