Another key that people often overlook when choosing a business opportunity is marketing. You could be involved in the greatest business opportunity ever, but if you do not know how to market the business effectively, you will fail. When people are choosing a business opportunity, many people do not consider how they are going to market the business. I constantly hear from people who get involved with a business opportunity or network marketing... they try placing a few free ads... it doesn't work... and they don't understand why they are not successful. Unfortunately, the Internet is saturated with marketing information that is false and outdated. If you are brand new to Internet marketing, it can be very difficult to separate what is true from what is not. This is why marketers that have been around for a long time have a major advantage. We have watched things change and evolve, which makes it easier to know what is no longer effective. There is no question that effective marketing is a major key to success. As always, I recommend seeking out the top marketers in the world and learning from these people. This is definitely something you are going to want to take into consideration when choosing a business opportunity. In most cases, you are going to have to learn effective marketing on your own. That is unless you are fortunate enough to find a mentor that has expert marketing skills and is willing to help you out. These people are few and far in between. If you decide to seek out a mentor (or sponsor) that has marketing skills, be sure to get proof. Everyone says they are marketing experts nowadays. Most of it is just talk. Any marketer who realy knows what they are doing will have no problem sharing some proof with you. If the person gets angry or defensive, just move on. Whatever you decide to do, do not overlook the marketing aspect of running a successful home business. I believe the marketing skills are even more important that choosing the right business. If you develop expert marketing skills, you will eventually find or develop the right opportunity that will lead you into the success you desire. |

This is absolute the truth, but I also get the feeling that a lot of people have no clear plan. You need to set your goals. Know what you want en where you want to be. Test your strategies and make the necessary changes - cut out that don't work for you. ![]() HelenaZ |

| Absolutely. I fully agree here. This is the FIRST thing I recommend people do is to get a clear vision of what they want. I highly recommend writing out what a perfect day would look like. I talk about this extensively in the "Perfect Life Workshop" videos.

The Perfect Life Workshop intro video was great. I like how it goes beyond traditional goal setting. I believe getting in touch with your "core" is essential.

Great tips Jamison. someone just starting out in internet marketing is going to be totally overwhelmed by all the hype on the internet. I think that without a mentor your chances are not great of ever succeeding. michellejayes |

Hi Jamison I agree with your comments because i have seen dozens of small businesses suffering from not completing a thorough business plan (which should include a marketing plan). Business owners need to plan their business from a Customer Orientated viewpoint not profit first. What this means is in essence: See what your customers want and give them that instead of deciding what you want to sell and then trying to get customers to buy. If a business focused on customer's needs more -marketing to them becomes so much easier. Paul Small Business Coach |
