Cool Rob’s Internet Marketing Tips: Part 2, A Flood of Backlinks

Hello, and welcome!
Rob Hunter here, to teach part 2 of my Internet Marketing Tips. Today we are going to talk about the power of Social Bookmarking to grow your home-based business.
So, by now you hopefully have at least a basic understanding of how the Search Engine rankings work...and you know that you want lots of backlinks to your sites. Social Bookmarking is a free and easy way of creating dozens of backlinks to your websites.

Social Bookmarking Explained
You know how you can 'favorite' a site with Internet Explorer, saving it to a list on your computer for easy access? Social Bookmarking websites allow you to do the exact same thing, except that you are saving your bookmarks on a Web 2.0 internet site instead of onto your own computer. There are many social bookmark sites that allow users to add their own content, such as Digg, Stumble Upon, Furl, Reddit, Delicious, etc. that you can add your links to. Presently, I will provide you with a shortcut to automate the process.

Everytime that you create a new site, be it a Squidoo lens, a press release, an article, or even a unique blog entry, you should be adding it to your social bookmarking sites. This accomplishes two things:
  • Creates backlinks to your site, improving its search engine ranking
  • Your social bookmarks themselves come up in search engine queries!

For example, type in MyInternetBusiness into Google, and go through the first couple pages. You will see numerous links from social bookmark websites, including Digg, Propellor, Stumble Upon, etc!

I use social bookmarking to quickly advance the rankings of my pages. For example, last week I had a press release go out about MyInternetBusiness.Com. With the use of Social Bookmarking, it was on the front page of Google the next day!

So how do you even know what all the social bookmark websites are, and which ones you should be using??

Here is that sneaky shortcut I promised you. Head on over to SocialMarker. com

This is a free service that automates the process of submitting your bookmark to 46 or so different sites! At the top, put in your site's URL, title, a description, and type in some relevant keywords that you want this to be found under. Then, hit Submit, and it will load up all the different social bookmarking sites for you to go through, one at a time.

And yes, you will need to create an account for each one. Tedious, but it will pay big dividends in the end. So go through each site, creating and activating your accounts. From the SocialMarker bar on the bottom, you can easily copy and paste in the information it saved for each site. Go through at least 20 bookmarking sites, and watch your rankings shoot into orbit!

I hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned for more! (for those who are benefiting from this, I have more internet marketing tips and tutorials on my blog)
