Hi all. Just a question for those working from home. how many of you have a website business making money online and how long have you waited for it to come out of the Google Sandbox? Some can take 3 months while others can take up to a year or more. What's your experience? Many thanks......JOhn |

I have never really worried too much about the Google Sandbox Effect. There are too many variables involved. When I learned to build sites for online marketing, I was advised to concentrate on building quality content based on good keyword research. In short, "Keep It Real." It seems like you can spend a lot of time and effort trying to manipulate Google or other search engines, when in reality, they are not likely to be manipulated. For the long term, it's just best to contribute quality to the web environment and you will be rewarded for it through free targetted traffic from the search engines. Some of my sites pick up traffic and rankings more quickly than others. I've found that a lot has to do with the amount of competition for both content and advertising. For instance, my insurance site started out really well, then pretty much was bogged for ages and has just started picking up again. That is way too broad a niche to market to, but I went in it for the long haul and expected it to take a long time to 'win.' It has paid for itself, of course, but has much more potential for the future if I persevere with it, as I have every intention of doing. My other sites have raced passed that site in every way because they are more tightly focused niches. I have never really felt they were being penalized by Google in any way for being newer. They have shown a natural healthy progression. I've chosen to just steadily plod along and my sites seem to progress and improve as time marches on. That's what I recommend for everyone, instead of worrying too much about things that really are out of your control. Blessings, Angie |

What do you mean by the Google Sandbox? -Getting indexed? Getting indexed took a less than a month for me and during that time I was busy researching for good content to post on my site, so no harm done for me.

Hi Tom, No, I don't think the "Google Sandbox" refers to getting indexed. If you submit your site to the major search engines, you should get indexed fairly quickly. Indexing is just when you are 'listed' with the search engines - they recognize you exist. I believe the Sandbox is more along the lines of how far up the ranks you are listed and whether Google is sending you any traffic. Ideally, you want each page of your site to rank in the top ten results for it's specific keyword/phrase so that it is on the first page of the search results. You aren't likely to get every single page on your site in the top 10, but as your site grows, you can certainly get a lot of pages in the top 10. The "Google Sandbox" isn't something I'm extremely knowledgeable about since I haven't done a ton of research on it. As I mentioned earlier, it is best to just continue to create and build quality content based on proper keyword research and don't stress over those things you can't control. If you are providing good material, Google will eventually reward you for it - it's as simple as that. ![]() Blessings, Angie |
