Depending on what niche you are in...

I'd assume a home business opportunity in this case.

To generate more leads, its better to have your very own lead capture page vs something that is offered by the company you are in.

Invest in a domain name and hosting and an autoresponder as well...

You will need some HTML skills to design your lead capture page as well.

Let me know if you need help.

You have to get your name out there. As Fendi said it does start with the capture page, but once you have that you have to Advertise, Advertise, ADVERTISE.
Word of mouth, happy customers tell others(referrals)
Flyers, signs, etc.
Free ads, paid ads

Forums are also great.

In addition to those things that the above people have said, I use traffic and link exchanges. True, the results aren't great by themselves, but if you have the time to use them, they are a great addition to other marketing and advertising. In this business, every little bit helps.

I can see how they can work(the traffic and link exchanges), but it is very time consuming. I think my time is honestly better spent learning about my company. I do believe articles, blogs and forums work well. I haven't done any articles yet. Not honestly sure how to go about that. Sometimes I think that maybe I am not ready to write an article yet. One of these days.

I do know that marketing and advertising is huge. There is lots of good posts here to learn from.

Brandy,

Shoot off your 1st article 1st...

You'll learn a lot just from the experience and then tweak your future article writing style along the way... The important thing is to keep going and do it.

Actually you are right. Traffic and link exchanges are a good way to get traffic to your site, but the more quality and targeted traffic does come from article marketing rather than just clicking away. I schedule my clicking and limit myself to a certain amount of clicks per site per day (usually 50). It takes me about two hours to do so, with as many sites that I have, and using a program that allows me to switch between sites faster. The rest of the time I am learning marketing techniques and putting them to use.

Traffic exchanges are really just a way to get traffic in the beginning when you are just learning marketing.

When you have a great product and you trust it, people who trust you will trust it also. As those people trust your product they will tell others about it. When people hear about home based business or other things that are not in the norm the automatically get cautious because there is usually just bad things that they have heard. "I had a friend once, that tried something like that and it did not work out". So the rule here is to have a product that you believe in and be honest and sincere about the product. Shoot straight with people and you will be suprised how much of a return you will get on leads.

If you want to get your name out there better, check out another option. Have a personal domain name. If your business is BigRedShoes you should have your own web page. Now BigRedShoes.com is taken, but there are other options. You could try an up and coming domain name, WS, to get your exact name out there. If you are interested check out my site, it is still under construction, but there is some info on the dot WS domains. YourOpinionCounts.ws/Extra Income While you are there, take a minute and fill out a short survey.
