Lightbulb Rob’s Internet Marketing Tips: Part 3, the Sacrifical Pingoat

Well, ok, it’s not actually sacrificial, but my wife and I were just watching the series ‘Rome’ and they did all kinds of weird things with goats back in the day.

We, as entrepreneurs, are also going to do something weird with a goat. We are going to use it to drive traffic to our website and make a tidy bit of money as a result . So, who is ready to learn how to increase your search engine rankings and get more customers using PINGOAT?

Your first question is probably something along the lines of,
‘WTF is a PINGOAT?’ And that is a reasonable question. Pingoat is a free service that notifies a huge array of search engines and blog directories that you have UPDATED your content.

If you have been following my internet marketing lessons, than you already have a blog and a handful of Squidoo lenses devoted to your home-based business. You may be updating your blog daily or every other day, and adding new lenses every day or so. Well, I’m about to teach you how to get your sites spidered and increase their search engine rankings on the double!

Ok, so you just completed a blog entry describing how great it is to be able to post advertisements to Craigslist, and have them actually stick. Or whatever else you may have felt like blogging about. Now, here is the plan:
  • Copy the url of your blog and open up a new window.
  • Dive on over to Blog and ping | Pingoat Scroll down and paste in your url.
  • Type in a title for your blog entry
  • Go back to your blog, and look on your sidebar for your Chicklet, or RSS button, or ‘Subscribe to this blog’ link. Hold your mouse over it and Right Click, and ‘copy shortcut’
  • Now haul tail back to Pingoat and paste this link into the third box for XML/RSS. It is always good to include your RSS feed because this will let the directories and search engines know that you have a feed with fresh content
  • Check off all of the categories and hit GO PINGOAT GO!
Voila! Before your eyes Pingoat will notify all of the directories that you have fresh content on your blog. They will unleash their spiders to crawl your blog and pick up all the content and hyperlinks. Good job!

Now, the trick is to do this process EVERY TIME you updated your blog, squidoo lens, or create a new lens. Combine pinging with social bookmarking, the subject of our next lesson, and you will find yourself quickly dominating your niche markets!
