What are you really selling? I know a lot of people in MLM have been taught to ABC (always be closing). No matter where you go, everyone is a prospect! You always have your upline telling you that as long as you know your WHY then you will be okay, but is that enough all the time? Because I know my why, and I'm sure a lot of other people know theirs. So why is it that a lot of people that join this business are always failing!? I think you should always know exactly what you are selling when trying to prospect someone in your business. It's not your Product or Biz Opp What we are really selling to our prospects or customers... Ourselves! It took me a while to realize that, but its true. You have to learn how to sell yourself. When I first started in MLM I was 19 years old and I listened to everything my Upline told me. I made so many calls, and I talked to people about my business every where I went. I still wasn't getting the results that I expected. Its been 4 years now and I quit one company and went with another that I really enjoyed and thats where I learned what I was doing wrong. I sounded like a walking Home Biz Advertisement! People don't want to hear what they can read, they want to hear from a real person, someone that cares about what they are looking for and what can give them a solution to their problem. They want to know how you can help them! So you have to sell yourself. Let them know you care, and you really want to help them. Show them you can listen to them instead of blabbing about your opportunity. When you listen, then its easier to know exactly what they want which in turn makes it easy for you to provide them what they're looking for. They have to trust you, and truly believe that you have their best interests in mind. Which you can only do if you honestly feel that way! There are thousands of Opportunities out there, so what makes yours any different. What does yours have that the others don't? YOU! Show them that you will be there for them and help them reach there goals. Don't just say it! Because when all you do is say it, They don't believe you because it sounds like you're just trying to persuade them instead of trying to help them. Thats just something I've learned about this business. Jasmine |

As we southerners sometimes say: "The proof is in the pudding." I don't know exactly how pudding got involved, but I have found that if you help someone to help themselves, the money will eventually come to you both. Good luck! |

I absolutely hate this method when it is the -only- method being taught. People teach this because there is an absolute lack of any kind of system being taught to the people they are mentoring. What do I mean by system? I mean a means of bringing in sales and prospects outside of the people you know. If you are truly getting into network marketing for the right reasons, you are intending to build a business and nobody can build a successful business based on their warm market. Oh yeah, and in order to have a successful network marketing business you do need to actually sell product. Not just recruit people to sit under you. This is why so many fail. Your WHY becomes meaningless if you don't have the skills and systems to reach your goals. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge proponent of personal growth and finding your passions (anyone who reads my blog would see that) but the simple truth is that a business is far more than just having lots of recruits. Having nothing but recruits--no sales can actually spell trouble.

I love what you said! It is absolutely true!! People are only going to do business with you (ANY kind of business) if they have some trust invested in you. Sales=Trust Trust=Sales Love it! |

I totally agree - who wants to listen to a walking advertisement? MLM is all about the people, first. Combine good people with a first rate product / service and chances for success skyrocket! Thanks for the great post, Jasmine. Scot |
