Default Home Business Success - What Does It Take?

Many people seem to think that being successful in a home based business requires some kind of special skill or knowledge.

While that may be true if you are actually using a skill you have obtained to start your own home business such as web design or something like that.

If you are working a home business that deals with product sales or providing a value based service to people via a company that provides training and support all you really need is a "why"

A "why" is a compelling reason that is so big it drives you to do whatever it takes to be successful. Most people will say that is easy...my "why" is I want to make money. Here is the problem with that.

In most cases building a home based business takes time and while you can make money as your business grows you will not be making large sums of money but rather building that base that leads towards ultimate fianacial freedom.

A "why" has to be something so big it carries you through the training and start-up phase and over the hurdles that WILL come along the way.

I'll give you an example using my "why"

I spent 20 years working in operational management at a senior level making a very good income but I always knew that once I stopped working that nice income would stop coming in. If something happened to me and that paycheck stopped coming in what would happen to my family?

This is where my "why" comes in to play. The home business I work helps me build lifetime residual income that is 100% willable. This drives me to build my business and do things outside my comfort zone because I now know I am building something that will carry over to my wife and our kids in the event something happens to me.

Think about it. If you or your spouse had stop working your job for an extended period of time what would happen? This is why we build our own business and not to just simple "make money"

Talking to people on the phone is not something I am very comortable doing but my "why" drives me to overcome that and just do it. In my local community I talk to many people about my company and talking to strangers in the grocery store, etc is outside my comfort zone but my "why" is so strong it pushes me to do it.

Above my desk is a simple note that says "Secure the family future" and it is posted where I can see it ever time I sit down to work.

Once you have that "why" all you need to do is plug into your business training and support. Work a proven system every single day. It does not matter if you can commit 1,2,5,10 hours a day because ultimately the result will be the same. The only difference his how long it takes to achieve that result.

Set Goals - I set goals that require me to work every day but that are obtainable enough that I can hit them and keep myself motivated and excited about what I am doing.

Believe - You have to believe in the business you are working and the value it provides to peoples lives. The biggest cause for failure is people jump into a business because they believe they can make money with it but do not really believe in the business product or service they are offering.

You do not have to be a genius or some kind of "special" person to become successful with the right home based business. You do not have to have a special background, skill or education.

All you have to have is a great "why", training / support, set goals, believe and most of all GO DO IT.

Find your "why" and use it every day to compell you to achieve the results you desire.

I think it's critical in the case of an MLM or such to interview mentors! Your mentor is your pipeline for information and tried and true methodologies. They are your guide starting out and not having a good mentor can be detrimental to your business.

This is soooo true! The best thing is to have a system to join where you can get advice/training from the founders themselves...
