Default Work At Home Job VS. Home Based Business

There are many people looking for work they can do from home but here is the main issue I have found.

They are looking for a work from home "job" and not a home based business. What has resulted is a ton of misleading advertising and scams such as the "legitimate home jobs" sites that promise to get your work from home in return for a fee.

What you are going to find after you sign up is they are going to present a bunch of opportunities that really are home based business opportunities and many of them are legitimate.

It is how they are marketed that make people believe they are a scam.

Now why do they do this?

It's very simple and goes back a "job" vs "business". People marketing business opportunities know there is a much larger market of "home workers" than there are "home business people" and thus a larger potential customer base. It's a numbers game that they play. In other words if you present your work from home "job" (really a business) to enough people looking to work from home then you are going to get a percentage to sign on.

It's a shame that more people are turned off by truly great opportunities because it was presented to them initially as one thing and then turned out to be something else. Immediately their "scam alarm" goes off.

I prefer to present things as they are to people and find that I get much better response in return. If it's a business then call it is business.

There are work at home jobs out there if that is what you are looking to do. Many customer service positions where you can get paid $7-$10 or so for fielding calls from your home and most are only 4 hour shifts daily.

What I would say is if you are going to do that why not start a home based business and here is why.

If I take a customer service position at, let's say $8/hr, in a given day I am going to make $32 for my 4 hour shift. With just any one of the business dealing I work online I can make that $32 before I even get up in the morning most days.

I don't believe I sell to people but rather provide information they may be looking for and let them decide if they want to buy it or not. The key with me personally is presenting information on many different things so I always have someone looking to buy what I am presenting.

You can have a home business without buying and shipping products. You can have a home business that does not involve selling directly to people over the phone or cold calling. You can have a home business that is easy to start and run.

There are tons of ways to go about doing it and you have to find what works for you personally.

A job is a job and it does not matter if you're at an office or at home. It's still a job. Good work from home jobs that pay good fulltime money are hard to come by unless you have some developed skills you can market.

Just be careful when looking at "job" opportunites and do not be surprised if it turns out to be a business.

The company I am a Independant Business Owner with presented me with a good opportunity and I took it. My sister was contacted by the very same company a few years ago and she was tured off to it becuase the person presented it to her as a job and then when she expressed interest they went into the fees.

Immediately she said I am not paying a fee for a job.

That is how most people feel and I do not blame them because that is how it is marketed and sold.

I just hate the whole "job" turning out to be a business approach because it leads people to assume you are scamming them. As an example I deal with everyday the Freedom At Home Team site that was provided to me as part of my IBO package reads more like you are offering employment than a business opportunity.

Don't get me wrong, I love FAH, the training and support is the best I have ever dealt with and the site is well put together. You get back end support with pre-built autoresponders. Pretty much eveything you would want.

I believe they worded it the way they did because people relate "job" with security and "business opportunity" with risk.

it stands to reason you are going to get more responses from a work from home job listing than a home business opportunity listing but...

I would rather have less response and talk to people who are looking for a business than have to convince someone looking for a job that what they really want is a business. LOL

I still say if you going to work from home then start a business. I can't understand for the life of me why anyone would want to work from home for someone else and limit themselves.

Look at the site and tell me if you think it words like a job and not a business. Am I missing something. check it out.

Joniki,

I know exactly what you are talking about! I used to be on the same team and I remember alot of people use to lose interest once they found out it was a business... But Janie is great and she sure knows what to say to make people look! Lol

Some people just don't understand how beneficial it is to own an internet business, they just automatically assume its a scam because it just isn't possible to make a living online! So even though you migh lose out on those people, you are really winning because you wouldn't want to have those kind of people on your team anyway!

Another funny thing about people and their fear of online businesses, they always complain about the investment, and I try to explain not only are you going to get it back plus more on taxes just for owning and working a home based business, but if you wanted to open a brick and mortar business you would have to invest money as well and its alot more! It also is alot more work!!
My family has seen the copies of checks that I've received on a daily basis when with the freedom at home team and they still called it a scam!! Lol
Isn't that a trip?
This is something we all need and you see me making money and you can still say its a scam!? Then they said it was a scam when we had the $1 broker promotion because "who in there right mind would believe they can really own a business for $1"

So that just proves that some people don't see the bigger picture, which is fine with me. If they want to slave working and making somebody else rich, be my guest... I tell them "Call me when you're free maybe we can do lunch"
LOL!

There are a lot of things being told that mislead people. Its good to see you're helping people to understand the differences between jobs and businesses.

Keep it up.
