I only trust dot coms, not really sure why.

They each have their own original meanings. .Org is organization, .Net is network, .Com is company, .Us is United States, .Gov is government, .ws is websites, etc. I guess it'll depend on what you're website is. Whatever it is, chose the appropriate one. But usually, people favor .com, .org, .gov, to be the more professional looking ones.

I think that the best domain is a .net becasue I think that it sounds the most professional when you want to make a trusted site.

They all have their different meanings. I would go with orgs if you are a non-profit organization, or you are a group that just wants to have an informational website.

.com is usually inteded for businesses, though in the end, any, and all of those can be used for a business.

.net is usually for just a regular internet site that is "neutral". But again, like I said, it can be used for any purpose.

If you plan on selling or doing anything though, I would suggest you get the .com.

For a mainstream site you want to try to get a .com because they are the most know by the public but for a buisness site I think .net is the way to go.

I agree with wahpah. It just depends on what you're using. The most popular, of course, is dot com. It just happens so that everyone likes it. So, if you can't decide go with dot com.

I think average customer immediately type in .com. This makes it REALLY hard to brand another domaine extetension. Like christine said, .com just comes naturally.

HOWEVER, when you are doing sites mainly for SEO instead of other types of bradning, you can make ANY extensive work well if you target the right keywords for your domain. (for adsense sites etc)
