Default Do people take you seriously?

When you tell them that you work from home, or do you get the smile that says they don't really believe that you have a real job, or business? I get that alot, and it upsets me sometimes that people do not believe that my business is a real business. I work as an independent contractor for a customer service company, and as a writer for an article submission site. Those, to me, sound like real jobs. I guess some people in the world just really don't get that you can work a real job or business from home, just as you could away from home.
I just wondered if anyone else was ever presented with this attitude from other people.

I used to get that at first. Then one time some of us were out bowling for the evening and one buddy made a crack about me staying home and playing on the computer. Everyone laughed. including me. Then I said, "Ha ha, that's a good one Jason -- cause I made more money today than you will working at your job all week." :-)

But the truth is, the longer you work at it, the more credibility you will build. I moved across the country four years ago, and when people realize you aren't negotiating rush hour traffic with them to get to a job, they treat you with more respect.

Regards,
Steve MacLellan

Obviously, no one will take it seriously.

"Come on, what do you really do?" They say.

But most people, still work their day jobs and do this part-time.

It's really hard to believe for the working population to see what work at home people are seeing...

well people think working from home is not a serious job, for them a job is in an office, i think they are wrong because working from home is the same than workin in an office you have an schedule and dedlines.

That's exactly what I have started telling people. Some of them still don't believe me, but they will when my toys are bigger and better than theirs.....

Even online jobs have much deadlines than your offices.
If u miss a day u miss a contract that is the buzz in online jobs.

For the same reason posted here, I dont say I'm doing an online business... And by the way as i'm a student, i'll not have to explain where i work or what i do... So, currently I'm having a peaceful life.... Dunno about the future though...
