Like two faces of the same coin work at home jobs have both advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of working from home is that you can work at your own convenience. And you don’t have to travel in the traffic and strain yourself. Of course this is something which everybody loves, but if you see the other side, you will not get a chance to socialize with people at all. This will make you a very reserved person over a period of time, and when something unusual happens you will not be able to face it. Because, you loose the courage and confidence to face the outside world which actually comes only when you meet new people and socialize with them. By choosing to work from home, you will spend most of your time within four walls, thus, you restrict yourself from the activities of the outside world. Working from home can also lead to certain health problems. As most of the work at home jobs, involve data entry, copywriting, web designing and similar jobs, where you will have to sit in one place and work. So your physical activities becomes less. Which thereby reduces the rate of metabolism in your body; you could also gain weight by just sitting in one place and working. If your work is to be done on the computer then, there are chances that the radiations from the computer can harm your eyes. Another major disadvantage of work at home job is that you don’t get the kind of job security which other jobs provide. As most of the work from home jobs are done through the internet, where you do not have enough details of the employer there are chances that you may not receive the payment for your work and sometimes you may not even have steady work. No doubt work at home jobs helps you financially, but this source of income is not preferred by the banks when you are looking for a loan. Having any job is considered as an asset, but not work at home jobs. If you are looking for a status in the society which is given to you by other jobs, then working from home is not meant for you. When you opt to work from home, you will not get any status or recognition from the society. You will not have any designation as such. Work from home jobs also fail to give you the kind rewards and recognition that you have to be awarded with for your hard work. But if you put in the same kind of efforts in the other jobs, you can move to greater heights and achieve more things. |

Let me give you some examples. Often times I meet with friends or family for lunch -- this gives you a nice break in the middle of the day. And too, just like a regular job, one always has shopping, events and social get-togethers after hours. When something unusual happens many home operators have discovered by breaking away from the herd mentality whereby you have to have a job, they have developed more confidence in their ability to negotiate business and personal matters more effectively. They have learned that there aren't any limits to what they are capable of. They are stronger and more decisive. Quote:

In my opinion one effect of working from home is that you can get stress.. Whe you work at office... once you leave the office and go home you can feel relax, however when you work from home your office it is your own house!!! So, you have to go out....take a walk etc |

I agree Fendi, my biggest problem with working from home is staying focused on the job at hand. I constantly find myself trying to do things around the house that I feel need done. I have had to set myself a schedule for work, and a schedule for housework. I'm trying to keep my work time dedicated solely to work.

Well if you're freelancing as i'm doing, then you'll not like this online job in the beginning... But after you gain experience, you'll even leave your highly paying job for it.. But society as usual dont treat us properly... So give equal weightage... |
