Though there may be numerous work at home opportunities for a price, there may be some scams involved here.

The best opportunities are ones you create for yourself. Let me explain an opportunity I see in my town and surrounding area.
For older people whose movements are become limited either mentally or physically they often rely on support workers. In my area, there are two types of support workers. Ones that are organized by the hospital, and independents. The hospitals resources are limited which means many of are older citizens need to rely on independents. These people work for themselves for minimum wage, but depending on who they are working for, their schedules often come into conflict with each other, which leaves the older person (who may be suffering from some sort of dementia) on her own to try and manage her own workers. Of course, this leads to more conflict and scheduling problems.
My aunt who is 82, is having this problem right now, and a friend of hers who recently passed away had to put up with this for three years.
The first thing I would do is go talk to the older person needing care. I would find out when they need people there, what chores need to be done, etc., and ask them that if I could provide them a smooth and reliable source of workers and make sure all the scheduling was done so they would have someone there when they need them, if they would be willing to pay $12 an hour for this service ($12 per hour when the work is present in their home). This would put my service $4 per hour cheaper than the hospital's service.
If they agreed to this, then the home workers will be coming to me for the jobs. The client would pay me, I would pay the worker, and keep $4 per hour (for each hour the worker was in the home) for my scheduling service.
Since there is a large population of senior citizens in this area, if I could keep 20 workers working for the clients I find, I could be making $80 per hour. Since many of the elderly require people to stay with them overnight it might be a goal to shoot for earning $1000 per 24 hour period.
Of course... realistically this wouldn't happen until you expanded your business past the few clients you interviewed to determine an interest in your service. But once you had a system in place, you could then hire some office help to help you manage it.
The senior citizen would no longer have to worry about
NOT having a support worker there when they needed it, and the workers could be organized so their schedules aren't conflicting, and they would be able to take on more jobs.
Look around you. There could be opportunity in your backyard.
