Default Do you have a business partner?

Sometimes I think about taking on a business partner in order to keep motivation going. When you work on something yourself, its easy to procrastinate and put things off, because no one's depending on you to get something done by a certain time.

Plus you have the advantage of bouncing ideas off of each other. Does anyone out there have a business partner, and how is it working vs. business on your own?

If you can really do it on your own, you don't need a business partner. You might have a conflict of interests. Just follow your overflowing ideas so you could be successful in the future with your chosen business.

Default business partner

Having a business partner makes you feel support in some cases, and it is always necessary to have a different point of view in your business, when you work alone you probably not pay attention to some things could be better for the business.

Ivan's right. 2 heads are better than one.

It's called leverage.

I've tried partners in other ventures and haven't had a lot of luck. Even if you and your partner are friends, there can still be some creative differences. An un-resolved problem is a problem.

One partner I had, took a lot of effort out of me to keep him motivated. This is energy spent, that could have been channelled to a more productive use. Another partner and I had differences on advertising ideas. Some of the ones she wanted to try, I had tried on my own in the past without any luck, so I really didn't like to see money being spent in areas that wouldn't bring us a good return on our investment. But... we spent the money, and she learned the lesson I had learned previously... except some of the money spent was mine.

Internal conflicts in your organization can cost you a lot of money and time. These are two commodities that are quite precious to all of us that are in business.

Some partnerships work, not all. If I was going to entertain the notion of a partnership again, I would be drawing up a contract of what each party was responsible for... but then, I've found, for me... that everything in my business life runs more smoothly when I don't have any business partners.

Regards,
Steve MacLellan

Default my opinion

well steve you are right...sometime having a partner is not the solution for all the problems and perhaps it generates new conflict... Even if it happened, you get new points of view too...

I agree with you Steve. I would much rather handle all the headache of a business myself than deal with the headache that a partner could potentially bring with him/her.

A good scientist doesn't repeat the same experiment and expect to get a different result.

Thats great advice Steve, i can second the above. If you are thinking of going into partnership with anyone make sure you get the foundations right. I mean you both need to lay all your cards on the table before going forward, this way you both know exactly were you stand
