If you own a huge collection of these items and you have no more places in your home, I think it is much better to sell or rent them while it is still under good condition. It would be easy for you to track down the CDs especially if you will be doing it within your community only.

I'm into vcd and dvd rental. I decided to do this because the vcd's and dvd's are just accumulating dust so I thought of using them to have additional income. Since my family and I love to watch movies, might as well earn from it too. It's not a huge business but at least we're enjoying and earning at the same time.

My aunt-in-law was in this vcd rental business too last year but due too flocking pirated vcd's they end up closed. Now they are just collecting them for private use. But If I were to ask if I'll do this kind of job, I won't do it because I am a person who takes care of my favorite possessions, I might collect it and watch it everytime I am bored.

My uncle is also in vcd/dvd rental business although rental business isnt he's priority i know he's making enough profit from it. In order for this business to survive he's buying original vcd from other country via he's friend. Like korean movies with english sub title.

Many people is making money out of this like my mother in law's friend. Koreanovela is a hit in the Philippines and if ever you want to buy one, it would be in series and consist of many cd's. So they earn more by selling them to their friends.

I also have a collection of VCDs, usually my favorites. I've also bee thinking of renting them out but I'm afraid they'll be damaged. I don't know if it's alright to copy them. Does anybody know something about this?

Renting out or selling videos (also video games) is a great idea, if there is demand for it. If you live near a video rental store, people are more likely to go there instead of renting/ buying form you. A downside is that you cannot guarantee that renters will take care of rented CDs. If it's your personal collection up for grabs and I advise you to store them rather than rent them out (unless you're selling them).

To take the idea a step further - put together a web site that has all your available movies and offer delivery of the movies on weekends. Or all week if you are able to do it full-time. Could this be done and still be profitable?
