What Is A Vendor Fair???

When I send out my vendor fair ads, I always get at least 3 or 4 return emails from people asking “What is a vendor fair?’ I never realized how many people had never attended or even knew what a vendor fair was. So I decided to write an article explaining this awesome opportunity.

First of all, a vendor fair is held online, usually in a chat or party room. It normally runs anywhere between 2-6 days. Sometimes vendor fair has a theme to it like a Mothers Day fair or a summer fair. The times usually run from 11am to maybe 11pm, depending on what the hosts sets up. Vendors usually have an hour time slot that they purchase. I have seen some have only a 30-minute time slot too. So as you can see, vendor fair vary significantly, again depending on how the host sets up the fair.

If you are a vendor, you choose the date(s) and time(s) that are most convenient for you. Choose a time that you will have free since you need to devote the hour to your presentation. Try and be in the room 5 minutes before your time so that when the previous vendor is done, you can start your hour. The first thing you want to do when you start is to introduce yourself. Post your name, business name and maybe a bit about you like children, etc. Then post your website and any specials you are offering. It is a good idea to offer some kind of special like free shipping or 10% off their order. Specials normally mean more sales and it gives your guests an incentive for attending. Tell your guests a bit about your business. People will usually have questions so take the time to answer them. I find that recommending some products helps people too. Maybe your company has a new summer line or special Easter gifts. Don’t forget to mention those. Now you can play a game or draw a door prize winner. Make sure you have a gift to give away. It doesn’t have to be anything big. Something like a $5 or $10 gift certificate or choose a product you have in your inventory. An easy game like word scramble works well. Choose words from your website so that your guests will become familiar with not only your site but your products too. If you are doing a door prize, choose a guest that is attending your party as the winner. Ask your guests if they have any questions and answer them as best you can. Post your website again in case they want to place an order. If you cannot take orders through your site, post your email so they can email you their order. Thank everyone for coming and end the party. Since you are the hostess, you are the last to leave. Some guests may linger around to chat for a while. Others will leave right away.

And that is pretty much the vendor fair in a nutshell.

I really never thought that there is such things like this over the net. My idea when I say you topic was like a vendor bazaar in a mall or in any location beside the internet chatroom. Thanks for feeding my mind about this.

Thanks deanac24 for this very informative post. I never knew there is such thing like this one. I also thought that it only happens in a mall. I wish I could be able to join a vendor fair. I think it is a very interesting to be able to join this. If in the future you're going to organize one, please do invite me. I would be very glad.
