Default Why home business?

So, why are all of you starting home businesses instead of working 9-5 for "the man"? What is the draw for you? What have the benefits been so far? The drawbacks? In what ways is it easier and in what ways harder than working a "normal" job? I hope this generates a bit of discussion

The biggest draw for me - I am my own boss about the amount of time I spend on my business. I can shuffle my schedule around, I can work more on good days and less on bad days or days when I am not feeling well.
The drawback - the fallouts are all mine, the responsibilities are all mine

I do this because I love it. What is it I do? I run websites. I currently run a website about PBX software, which brings me decent money, probably about $300 a month. Unfortunately that doesn't support me all the way. Therefore, I'm starting another website so that I can stay at home at work just here.

The new website I am working on is me and a few other guys that have been in the seduction community for a while. We are going to be doing one on one advice sessions to help people in the love world. If we can market it correctly, we should make some good coin.

What are the drawbacks? It's work. :P Good thing I don't mind this kind of work then.

I do a variety of work and the biggest draw for me would be that I have the decision on how far I take my skill. Whether I maximize it or just increase it. I love what I do from writing to websites to anything else that seems to draw my attention. The drawback is that it's a lot of work, must be a good thing that I am interested deeply into whatever I am working on.

Right now, I am not able to stay at home all the time. I still work in the office 3 - 4 days a week. But I can't wait to be able to stay at home all the time. It will be so great. I am looking forward to it. More time with the family and I will be able to attend more of their events and do more stuff with them. It will benefit all of us.

Well I still work for "the man" working 9-5 hours. I believe home based business are an extra source of income however I believe you should not quit your day job since these online jobs may be stable for now but the future is uncertain.

The benefits are online jobs can provide you with income and a form of relaxation and enjoyment.

i am doing this because i have a 12 year old that needs several mor operations on his feet. This means I need to be home, and work with a very flexible schedule. I can do this with my new writing service rather easily. I am hoping to just make a small amount of money for the extras around here.

Working 9-5 is a good way to earn regular income but then you would have to put up with your boss. The benefits for having a home business is that you are your own boss and you earn what you deserve at the same time you can work at your own convenience.

The benefit is that you never have to leave home. You can work at your own pace. It is more than advantageous especially to work at home moms or dads out there. They can spend much time with their kids at home and attend to their needs.
