Default Start your own business or franchise an unpopular one?

Franchising is a great way to start a business especially if you have no idea about running one. But would you consider franchising a business that is not relatively popular yet but in your idea, has a great potential or would you rather start your own business so if it clicks, you could have it franchised?

I'd rather start my own business. You'll work hard to get your outlet of a little known franchise marketed to the target market. That's what franchising is about, having a ready market for your products. So if that market barely exists, what's the use of franchising?

Starting-up own business from scratch has the highest risk in business ventures, though you can enjoy the freedom to run your own business the way you want to. For starters, it is most recommended to buy a franchise than putting up own business. With buying a franchise, one can be rid of the hassles of advertising, training personnel and finding the perfect location (which is the most tedious of all).

The risk involved in starting your own business or franchising an unpopular one is very big. You need to exert extra effort on it. You should be ready to anything. Better to make a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis on the business. This could be your guide in running your business.
