Default Business Idea - pick up laundry service

I thought I would share this idea, it seems to be quite interesting.

There is a person in the town that I live in that offers a laudry service. They will pick up your laundry at your house, wash and fold them, then deliver them back to you. I think they charge by the pound of laundry, and even have weekly and monthly laundry plans.

I live in a college town, and it seems to be a perfect market for this idea because the cost is not too much more than going to the laudromat (spelling???) - and the students really like the idea of not having to do laudry, plus it gives them more study time with one less thing to do.

Well, this is a great idea for some people who are used to do the laundry and at the same time are willing to make a profit out of it.
I would like to try this but the thought of it makes me laugh. Why? I simply don't know how to wash clothes and that means that I cannot enter this kind of business idea. Maybe i should try washing my handkerchiefs tomorrow.

How are they doing the laundries? I assume that they use it by washing machines. In our country, there is a similar type of service but the difference is that the person will ask you if you want your clothes washed and they will do it by hand! They charge a fix rate per day.

When I went to college a billion years ago I could drop off my laundry and they would charge by the pound. I was so busy...worked full time and went to school full time. It really helped. I wish they had the pick up and drop off service back then.

That's a good idea Gil857 and you're in the perfect location. I'm sure you will be having a lot of customers. It's a relief to have somebody do your laundry especially for those college students who are really busy. Now, in case you do pursue with your idea, how exactly, are you going to do it? Where will you do the laundry?

To be honest, I was just throwing the idea out - I think that it would be a great work at home business, but I absolutely hate doing laudry. I might be a good potential customer.

I guess where you did the laudry would depend on how much business you had, and what type of wash equipment you had. If you had a lot of business, you could haul it down to the laundromat at do it all at once, maybe even strike a deal with the owner for a volume discount.

Nice idea. Too bad, its just an idea and you don't like doing laundry. But I guess it wouldnt work out if you don't like to do it. When engaging in a business, it would be best to do something you would really like doing or be interested in. Anyways, you do have good ideas.

I think its a great idea, its just not for me. I don't see the flyers of the person who used to do it here in town. It may have been an enterprising student who has moved on since. If you don't mind doing laundry, it might be worth some consideration for a home business. I have heard that some people actually find it relaxing .

Some people do the laundry as a hobby ( I actually know some of them)...they do like it very much, I guess. It's a good thing you brought that idea up in case some people are on a lookout for a prospective business and upon visiting this thread would probably get interested. In that way, you have helped others.

That would be a great idea. It's just like having a maid in the house. That business would be very applicable to students especially those who live in dormitories. Or you must know some busy people to be your prospect potential customer. But still I would rather stay in front of the PC rather than doing the laundry of other people's clothes.
