Default Affiliate marketing

Is it worth setting up a new site to set up affiliate marketing? How lucrative is this ? If you do set up a site, how do you advertise it and make sure that people come to it - and then that they click and buy. Affiliate marketing seems to be the new buzzword nowadays. Has anyone tried it here ?

Hi Milly
You are correct affiliate marketing is a big business but its been saturated for my money,There are companies springing up all the time and not reallt getting anywhere.
Then as you correctly pint out you need clients, the best way for this right now is with google adwords, but that costs money.
If you have time then thats great build the site get the keywords and meta tags right and sit and wait, you will get there eventualy but for a quick fix I think it will cost more than you make.

Not trying to put you off just giving you a slightly different view

Mark

Just remember that every other affiliate in the program is a competitor. Ive made most of my affiliate money by placing banners, instead of adsense, on websites I own.

Then it makes more sense to use my present site to earn money. Put banners and maybe adsense. I was thinking of making an affiliate page in it, but if I was a visitor my self, I would never go to that page !!!
Well I have to keep thinking and talking to you guys. Some solution will be there !!

Take a look at phpadsnew. Its a free solution that lets you rotate different types of ads - including adsense and affiliate banners. Try it for a month and see which one brings in the most cash. You could then also sell banner impressions or per month banner slots to individuals. Good luck.

Thanks for the information entrepreneur, I have actually read about this program on forums how you can rotate the different ads like adsense etc but I never knew the name.

My opinion on affiliate marketing it could bring you a great deal of income but you need to generate a lot of traffic, with unique visitors per day. Marketing can be targetted with Adwords, and by blending the affiliate ads to improve CTR will lead to success.

I think affiliate marketing is worthwhile only after you have an established site. If I am not intruding how much can a good site expect toearn per month from affiliate marketing. I have a site - not a good one - can be improved. I am wondering if I can make enough to pay for my operational expenses

I originally started my first site thinking I'd focus on affiliate market. I had no idea what I was doing and of course made no money.
Eventually, I took a step back and worked more on content and getting visitors. I went with Adsense and did much better. Later, after the traffic was built up a bit I threw in some more affiliate stuff and did better.
If you can get the right traffic in the right amounts you can do very well with affiliate marketing.
Some people also have luck working with Adwords and affiliate sites. This was never better than breakeven for me though.

That’s great to hear bustour I’m glad affiliate marketing worked well for you. I agree with your statement that working on more content and getting visitors will ultimately lead to success.
I too went with adsense and although at the beginning with minimal traffic the clicks were not providing that much money. Later on by increasing traffic you can setup with the affiliate sites out there and see how you go, overall there is quite a lot of money to be made.

Thanks for these tips. It just went with adsense the other day. So I will have to see how that goes. I am really considering the rotating also. My traffic is pretty low right now but if everything I am doing works that should increase soon.
