Just wondering if any of you have ever filed a small claims case. I might have to do this and was wondering what the pros and cons were compared to just hiring a lawyer. ????????????

You'll want to check out all of the rules and regulations before doing anything. Each state has their own laws for filing a small claim. The $$$ amount is different for each state and some will allow you to have an attorney, etc.

I've filed a claim before and it was really easy and less expensive than hiring an attorney for a low dollar amount. It's a good thing to look into.

Make sure you have all of your evidence ready to present in court. You'll need things like receipts, checks, contracts, photos, bills, records, etc...

Remember that you'll have to be the attorney before the judge.

Breach of a written or oral contract.
Return of money used as a down payment.
Property damage caused by a motor vehicle accident.
Damage to or loss of property.
Consumer complaints for defective merchandise or faulty workmanship.
Payment for work performed.
Claims based on bad checks.
Claims for back rent.
Return of a tenant's security deposit.

Great advice from everyone above, however I'd actually talk to a lawyer in that state because they would know more of the legistics and legalities.
