Credit cards certainly have their down side if you are an impulse shopper... or have more than one person using the same account and aren't good at keeping tabs on your balance.
But credit cards have also become an almost indispensable part of our society. Some online companies only accept credit cards or snail mail checks and money orders. If you want to do business with such a company, you have no choice.
Paypal is great, but many brick and mortar companies haven't even heard of it.
One thing I learned when setting up my business was to open a separate bank account with it's own credit limit and card. Not only does it simplify your book keeping, it can be used to establish a good credit rating.
Another advantage is that having your own bank account can add credibility with your clients or customers... especially local people if you hope your business will become well known.
