Turbo Tax?
I am thinking about trying Turbo Tax to help me figure out my taxes this year. I'm not really going to make so much money that I'll need an accountant. I was curious if anyone uses this? Is it a good program?
Thanks

Re: Turbo Tax?
Hey Vanessa,
I used turbotax.com for 2 years straight! I love it.
Even if you did make alot of money it would still be good. I used it because I am very picky about trusting my taxes with outsiders. I felt like if there was going to be a mistake at least it would be my fault.
They walk you through everything and if you don't understand something there are also help sections right there to explain everything in detail. There is no guessing if you need a certain section or not they help with all of that.
And you get to see how much you owe or how much you will get back the whole time you are inputting information in the different sections. You also get to see how much you owe or how much you are getting back before you pay for it!
Another good one is H&R block online, it is just like turbotax
Hope this helped

Re: Turbo Tax?
Thanks for the info I actually have been going to H&R Block for years, and thought about just letting them handle it again this year, but it takes so long sometimes to get an appointment, and then waiting in the office seems like forever. I would much rather just do it at home myself. I may check into TurboTax and see if I think that I can handle it. Blonde, you know
I would let my hubby do it, he has his own business too, but he's just not great at the numbers game

Re: Turbo Tax?
I Have used Turbo Tax for years. Once you get everything set up (name, address, ss#, etc.) then as it becomes "tax time" each yera, you just purchase the neew version for that year. Once you install it on your computer, all data is carried over from the previous year.
I think it's great! It saves a whole lot of time and is very simple. You just answer the questions as you go along and insert the information. It will even do an audit at the end.
I hope this helps!
Take care.

Re: Turbo Tax?
Thanks Carl for the information. I do plan to at least try it this year. If I find out that I can't do it, there is always H&R Block

Re: Turbo Tax?
Vanessa,
If you want to do it yourself, you can do so online with H&R Block as with Turbotax... They both save all information from previous years in your own account with secure login information.
I've never actually bought the software but I have done both online programs and they do the exact same thing. And you don't have to worry about downloading anything onto the computer and upgrading every year.
With H&R Block they too have the audit information and you can also choose to have an actual agent check over it before you e*file, when you do that they stand behind it and will actually vouch for you if you were to actually get audited by the IRS.
Like I said I loved them both

Re: Turbo Tax?
I think we go to jail, but I'm not planning to find out for myself
Actually we have a man here where I live who, years ago, was sent to prison for tax evasion, and he was a State Representative. He was actually re-elected to his post while in prison

Re: Turbo Tax?
Vanessa,
I have learned that using programs like Turbo Tax and doing your taxes yourself help you to learn more about what to do throughout the year to improve your tax situation at the end of the year. There are usually a lot of helpful hints regarding deductions, etc...
