Have you ever taken legal action against someone for not paying? People who do not pay I find to be the biggest problem of running a business.

I had one who didn't pay me about a year ago. It wasn't alot of money, but the bad thing about it was we were "friends", and I just felt like she did a really bad thing to rip-off a friend like that. I learned my lesson, and I'm much more careful who I do business with now.

I've been ripped off in the past as well. I'm very careful of who I do business with.

If the amount is small, just forget it and find another new job.

For large amount,I think I will follow the case tightly.

We should do research or investigate about the background of the company first before we start the deal . Just to play safe .

I agree. It all depends on the amount of money involved.
Most of the time, I would not worry about it but would try to take revenge by posting bad reviews and warning others about doing business with that individual.
Trying to pursue a legal case is a headache and most of the time, it is not worth the effort.

I agree. Although I did persue a small amount that a client owed me. He didn't pay the full amount, but I did get a little something for my effort. I also complained to him on the job site that I found him on. He has since done the same thing to 2 other people. I'm hoping that they remove him from the site completely, although I, for one, will never do business with him again.
