Actually I have been doing my own accounting. Of course, my business is not very big at the moment. I was wondering when you all knew that you needed an accountant to handle your business?

Thumbs up

When you are that busy that you don't have any time to do the accounts. Thats when you know. If you leave them you will end up with a big backlog

Over here in the UK you can purchase an accounting software suit called: Sage

Anyone heard of it?

I've never heard of Sage, but I think we have one here called "peachtree"? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's the name. It's supposed to be really good software.

My background is in accounting. I have been doing my own bookkeeping
for our home businesses for years. I compile everything, then at tax time
I give everything to our tax preparer who handles our taxes. What I love
about her is she is about is you paying your taxes and not a penny more.
I found her by referral from an associate business owener. So, yes, talking with other business owners is a great source of information. I do want to make the transition to outsourcing my bookkeeping at some point.

Best Regards,

Danyelle

We normally take ours to an accountant. We've been using the same one for years, and this will be the first year that I will need to do taxes for business purposes, so she'll have a little reprieve from the boredom of our normal tax preparation
