Default Can you file a legal complaint for online scammers?

It is a common problem of a lot of people when these pay to read or pay to click programs scams them. If they found out that these are scams, is there a legal way to file a complaint against them? How would they know what court they need to approach?

Maybe you can try the Better Business Bureau. They accept all types of business complaints, online or offline. Their site lists the types of complaints you could possibly have. It's a good site. You can contact them for more information.

I think Jireh is right but someone said that sometimes BBB can be paid just to get a good ratings. But still you can file a complaint against the company you are working which you know is a scam so that they can file it together with the other complaints and give that company an F rating.

There are many ways you can report internet scams. It doesn't matter where you are from. It is internet scam we are talking about. So, if you are a victim or you know someone you can run to Internet Crime Complaint Center or Fraud Bureau.com, or call this number to file a complaint about fraudulent jobs posted on an online job search web site. (877) 382-4357. To file a complaint online, go to www.ftc.gov.

Thanks for the info on the FTC. I've always thought we can't do anything against scammers since we don't live under the same laws. I know most don't get penalized but I sure would do anything to make it harder for them to scamsomebody else.

Thanks so much for the information. I never thought that we could do anything for these online scammers. Nice to know that there is a site that could help. But is this site not a scam in itself?

The ftc.gov site is legit. It is the federal trade commission.

My best recommendation to you is to forward your complaint as well as any information that you have on the guys/ guy that scammed you to the FBI. This will ensure that if this guy ends up being a truly bad figure who is taking money from Americans in order to finance terrorism or to damage our business efforts in the future, the FBI will have EVERYTHING that you knew about this guy ahead of time and YOU yourself would have submitted it.

I don't know how well the grassroots system works against online fraud: I would assume not very well.

If you are interested in filing a complaint though, go FBI all the way: they are the ones that will handle this garbage when it all shakes out. On the other hand, if your computer has been subjected to viruses, illegal cookie activity or otherwise, you may do better joining the Marines and "whacking off a few" on the count of too many people attempting to gain access to too many arenas of new age tech.

I'd guess you'll opt with the FBI.

Otherwise,

Semper Fi,
Enjoy,
