Default Offline backers for online ventures

Do you know if it is a good idea to approach offline businesses to back you in an onlime venture? If so, how would you go about with the proposal?

I guess it would all depend on whether or not you knew the person. One of the things that aren't good about offline investors is that they may try to get into the other end of it and that may end up being nothing but a big fat headache.
