Do you do your own accounts or pay someone to do them for you?

I currently pay someone to look after my books but if i found out that it was not that hard i would give it a go myself!

I guess it really depends on how much you make and how much time you can devote to something like this! I don't make huge money on my businesses and can manage my own finances quite effectively... Quicken does the trick!

I prefer getting my accounts done by others. It is not only easier, but they have often guided me and told me what I am doing wrong and how to not make payments or accept payments in a certain manner. The money I saved was over and above the payment I made to them

Well that means you have a great accountant! I can't tell you how many accounting companies out there just are plain worthless! This is one of the reason I do it myself now!

Who is you accountant I might want to consider using them

I would love to give you my accountant's name - but I live in New DElhi, and I do not think that it would be relevant to you.

That is the best ... Yes I don't think your accountant can help me much from New Delhi... I guess the accounting rules in India are much different then they are here in the United states. Thanks anyways!

I do my books myself. But I also took two years of accounting in college. Some people can do it themselves, but it depends on how much you have going on in your business. Some of them are pretty straightforward and some have a lot of different rules to follow.

The accounting rules in India are different and the accountants are also cheaper. But if you do not have any accounting experience or knowledge about it, it is always safer to employ one initially. They can save you money, and as you learn, you can do the accounts later yourself. A badly maintained account can get you into a lot of trouble.
