This is my first "Guru" review. Jay Abraham is one of my favorites. This guy is a genius. Most of his material is good. He is more of an offline expert, but his ideas definitely translate to online marketing as well.

Jay is brilliant, but his true strengths lie in his gifts, talents and abilities (bestowed forms of personal leverage) rather than his knowledge, attitudes and skills (acquired forms of personal leverage). He can spot marketing and strategic alliance opportunities where nobody else can, and he's mastered the art of negotiating profitable royalty deals. So he's almost impossible to duplicate. Proof? Where are all the other Jay Abrahams? That doesn't mean you can't learn from him, but Dan Kennedy is probably a better role model and teacher — he teaches knowledge, attitudes and skills. There are a lot more people who attribute their success as marketers to Dan's teaching than to Jay's. I've followed both over the past 30 years and, based on extensive feedback from people I know who've attended live events presented by both Jay and Dan, the consensus has been that Jay's events tend to be a barrage of ideas — throw enough mud at a wall and some will stick (his promotion has long been based on the premise "you only need to get one useful idea to recoup the cost of his program") — while Dan's have been much more practical and useful. In other words, apart from what he can do that few others can do (spot opportunities and make deals), what Jay does best is to promote Jay. John Counsel |

| I hear what you are saying and you make some good points. For me, I do not try to duplicate what Jay does. In fact, I rarely try and duplicate other marketers. I like to listen to people who are tapping into their "inner genuis" because it helps me to come up with my own ideas and spin on things. Jay has helped spur a lot of good ideas for myself. I agree with you about Dan Kennedy. I have just about every program Dan has ever come out with. I have actually been thinking about getting involved with his mastermind group to do some networking. Are you part of that group? |

No, I'm not. It's just not practical for me here in Australia. I have degenerative health conditions that prevent me from making long flights. I can't even visit my son and his family in the USA, which is far more important and frustrating for me. John |

| Marketers that are the caliber of Jay Abraham are typically down in the trenches earning fortunes. One of Jay's weaknesses is that he doesn't understand the Internet that well. That kind of leaves him with a blind spot. Multi-channel marketing is where it is at. |

Good point Born Rebel...just because you are a guru in something, it doesn't make you an expert on the internet.

I like Jay. Some of his products are better than others. He has organized some great events. He is definitely one of the better trainers IMHO.
