Fake it until you make it gives a really bad impression though.

Many people can get a feel for who you are and whether or not you are what you say you are.

I personally prefer to be clear and honest with them. I'm not a guru, so why would I pretend to be one. Wouldn't that put me in a distinctly difficult position when the truth came to light?

Most people will appreciate the honesty and if they judge you for what you are ... you don't want them on your team or as a customer anyway.

I have taken the you don't have to know everything approach. If you had to know everything than no one would be making any money. I learn as I go and do try to learn something new daily.
I don't fake it because that is wrong. I tell people that I have not been with the company that long. I am on the average pace right now. I can share success stories of others that have been in the company longer. Plus for me I am raising two kids- my income is more supplemental- I will help someone as much as they need to make a full time income, but as for me I am happy with what I make.
