Default Linux or Windows?

Linux is a free operating system. I begin to like it because it already looks like the graphical environment of Windows. One more thing I have had no problem with viruses so far. Linux seems not to be susceptible to keyologgers and spywares. More importantly it can run using just a CD without installing on your hard drive.

I currently use Windows XP and have been wanting to give Linux a try. Where could I get this? I didn't know that it was free either, of course, I haven't looked into it much. Sounds like Linux is one of the best ways to go for now. As far as web hosting I prefer using a Linux Server, no need for Windows really.

Linux comes in a lot of distributions or distros. You can try Ubuntu, it's free and one of the more user-friendly distros. It also got liveCDs which you just load in your CD drive to get a taste of Linux, nothing to install in your system.

I currently running on windows but Linux is a new exciting world for me. I'm testing various versions to get a feel on it and I've already went through redhat, xandros, and ubuntu. I'm set to try "smaller" versions that can run new software on old PCs such as puppy linux and slax.

I have not tested Linux yet. But what I have heard from my colleagues, some reviews online and with much recommendations from computer nerds community, it was much powerful from Windows.

If you are a geek, then Linux is certainly much more powerful than windows. But for ordinary users like me, Desktop Linux runs the same as windows. But if you know your way around Linux, you can try slackware and be prepared for hyperdrive.

I'm using windows since most of the software I use run only on this OS. Linux does offer better stability and faster performance but the more user-freindly desktop distros are are popular like Ubuntu and Red Hat are also hogging resources. The good thing about Linux is it's almost virus free.

I tried Linux once, no, make that three times. Didn't like it any of those times so I just decided to stick to Windows.

I too have tried Linux, it wasn't particularly great! I have also tried Macintosh but that is completely out of the leaderboard, Windows remains the best!

I don't know which distro of Linux you had tried but I am working on Fedora, I have also checked Mandriva. Both are great. Though I have not checked Ubuntu which is the most popular and easy at this moment.
