The People's Program is another "cash gifting" program.

Let's see...

New Jersey says it's a serious crime at http://www.citylimits.org/content/ar...rticle_id=2281...

Michigan classifies it as a felony at http://www.mason.mi.us/police/101708...ingSchemes.pdf...

Florida says it is a misdemeanor - provided both gifter and receiver are within the state. If it crosses the state line, instant 3rd degree felony.
See http://www.vnn.org/editorials/ET0008/ET15-6156.html... for a more detailed discussion of the law involved.

North Carolina's Attorney General had this to say, "Under North Carolina law, a pyramid scheme is any plan in which a participant (1) pays money (2) for the chance to receive money (3) upon the introduction of new participants into the program." at http://www.ncdoj.com/DocumentStreame...;20Schemes.pdf...

Texas, well, they had a high profile gifter thrown in prison earlier this year for gifting. See the court ruling at http://www.14thcoa.courts.state.tx.u...pinionId=83666...

Colorado? Don't even BREATHE the term cash gifting there. Colorado was almost destroyed back in the 1930s by a gifting program based on dimes. You send someone more than $50 as a gift there, with no product, and your name will be begging to be merely "mud."

Iowa's attorney general has a big list of reasons why gifting is a scam, at http://www.iowa.gov/government/ag/la...legal_memo.htm... and some advice for victims at http://www.iowa.gov/government/ag/la...How_To_rel.htm...

California... hehehe... if you really want to know just how bad the Golden State is for gifters, go to scam.com and look up Brian Martin. He and his brother (the "Cash Gifting Twins") found out the very hard way about the law. And about the FBI.

Nebraska has a Supreme Court ruling against cash gifting going for them. They can hit any gifter with sale of unregistered securities, no matter how much the gifter protests that it wasn't a security or investment (because under Nebraska state law, it is one).

Speaking of the Supreme Court, the ruling Lucas v Alexander renders cash gifts taxable, not tax free, if you solicited it or otherwise asked for it.

And there's a Federal court ruling out of the Virgin Islands (yes, they are part of the USA) that gifting statements are null and void due to lack of donative intent. See http://www.vid.uscourts.gov/territorial/06sc0016.pdf... for the judge's words. So, that piece of paper they claim protects you - doesn't.

Thanks for 'keeping it real'. I think most people know that gifting programs are illegal... or I hope??

But I've never seen such a tidy list of confirmation links. Thanks!
