Default Mail scam

Talk about being scammed. I just got a notice in the mail from this credit agancy saying that I owed them money from a debt 10 years ago. It was already paid and nowhere to be found on my credit report and they want thousands of dollars. I don't think so. Come to find out, I looked this company up online and there are others that have also been scammed as well.

From what I understand, this happens quite a bit. What is the name of the company? People need to be on the lookout for these people.

Did you report them to the BBB and notify Consumer Reports/Attorney General in your area?

A lot of scams going on right now, I almost fell for one that looked like an actual email from TCF Bank, which is my bank. The email looked legit and was well done, it even took my to a site that looked axactly like TCF's. I knew it was a scam but I bet they got a bunch of people. It is a shame, but we got to be careful.

Sorry that happened to you. I also almost fell for a scam that would have killed my credit score.

Never Never Never fall for this!!! It saddens me so many people do.

The best and easiest way to find out if theirs any truth to the matter is ring the company directly.

Here in Australia we have 1800 numbers which are free call's direct to the company. (I don't know if you get free calls over seas) but still even if it does cost you a little money it's peace of mind.

blacknight7. I wonder how they got your mailing address and how they knew you were with that bank?

I agree with Jamison name the company so others will be aware of them.

Can you believe that I got another in the mail recently from a company saying that I owed them money from like 10 years ago. It's so wrong! I just ignored it. It really makes me angry.
