Although I se the value in sites like RipOffReport, I think that there needs to be more accountability. Anyone can write anything on these sites. People can slam their competitors, ex-employees can pretend to be angry customers, people lie about their story, and there is no accountability for any of this.

If you look at a site like scam.com, there are is a bunch of childish behavior from people that don't have any credibility. I think there should be some laws protecting companies from some of what is going on out there. People shouldn't be able to lie and have it damage a company's reputation. I am not sure what the answer is.

Very good points, Jamison. I visited scam.com one time only. Childish behavior equates to zero credibility.

And the lack of accountability is disturbing. One thing we do not enjoy is a perfect world where everyone tells the truth.

I guess if people are going to use these sites as dd tools then, it would be wise to merely view them as a small part of a big picture.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB), founded in 1912, is a corporation consisting of several private business franchises of local BBB organizations based in the United States and Canada, which work together through the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB). The BBB goal is to foster a fair and effective marketplace, so that buyers and sellers can trust each other ("Start With Trust"). Many BBB services can be accessed online through their website.

BBBs gather and report information on business reliability, alert the public to frauds against consumers and businesses, provide information on ethical business practices, and act as mutually trusted intermediaries between consumers and businesses to resolve disputes. News media frequently turn to the CBBB and local BBBs as expert sources of news about scams and consumer issues.

Ripoffreport is not all legit. If you do some research they have a ton of lawsuits.I don't believe everything they have to say. It's to easy to report a company.I think they should look into allegations before they call a company a scam.
