Default Ebay scam gone wrong

How many times on Ebay have you been messaged that a buyer wants to settle the sale outside of ebay and paypal? These are scams. Once they get you to sign up for a fake payment website, they take your money and run.

However, read this:

It seems like there is some fighting back to these scams

So phishing also invaded auction sites. Scam cases like this auction scam can be reduced if not avoided if due diligence is exercised. Anti phishing softwares can be of help.

I have been buying and selling on ebay for about 5 years, and have never come across something like this. It makes me wonder how safe it really is. I will definitely keep my eyes open for a potential scam, but I think if someone asked me to use an outside site for payment, I would hear sirens going off in my head Nevertheless, it is always a good idea, I guess, to be wary when dealing with someone that you don't really know, even on ebay.

I think ebay should be a safe spot if you deal via ebay. If asked to deal out of it, complain to ebay itself especially after you have won the bid as seller would have gone against ebay's TOS.

I agree. Good money can be made on ebay, but when the scam artists start taking it over, then it ruins it for everyone. If we adhere to their terms, then so should everyone else. I really wonder if ebay is aware that this is going on, and what they're doing to correct it?

ebay is safe only thro ebay alone. If u do anything out of it u falls into the hands of some scammers only.
