Default The Truth/MLM If you’re new you should be warned to avoid these scams

Hello Everybody! I'm sure all of us are sick of scams. But there may be new people who don't realize the trickery of recruiting. So here's a short list of tag lines to avoid. Hope this helps somebody to avoid being scammed.

Claim:
Refer 3 who refer 3 and quit promoting forever!

Truth:
Out of every 5 people you refer to an online venture, only an average of 2 will become active and do anything. And out of those who do start, few will remain active.

Claim:
(Actual Email I received) "Make 25,000 per month without sponsoring anyone"!

Truth:
If you do nothing, you get nothing! When you participate with any business or affiliate program, you're not buying fast and easy cash. but you're investing in your own home business. You're also investing in yourself. If you're not willing to put forth a little effort, then you shouldn't involve yourself with any business of your own.

Claim:
"Make a small monthly payment, and retire early with a residual income of thousands"!

Truth:
If you are lucky enough to amass any monthly income at all, it will be short lived. The fact is that people don't make monthly payments for long. And when 1 person drops, then the member above him drops. And this continues until you drop because you're not making any money from your downline.
And there is no way that somebody somewhere won't drop out. If you are a promoting whiz you might fill a matrix, but for everyone within your downline to duplicate that's more people than there is in the world! So as you can see, monthly payment schemes are mathematically impossible.

Claim:
"We do all the work for you! You just sit back and collect the money"!

Truth:
This claim is a flat out lie just to get your money from you. After you pay, you will discover that you must do something to promote. Beware of scams!
And here’s one more popular lie,

Claim:
Everybody who joins now receives a check!

Truth:
Yeah how about this, you send me $50.00 and I’ll mail you a check for $5.00! That’s basically how this scam works.

I think MLM becomes a scam if there is no commodity involved and if the cost of such commodity is beyond the normal rate. Else I see MLM as a "tweaked" version of affiliate programs.

95% of people will quit an MLM. Failure in an MLM is usually self-inflicted. But 95% of people will quit, its a horrible habit that society can't seem to break.

Success in MLM only comes through dedication and a VERY hard head. Always looking to capitalize on that 5% while maintaining the SINGLE key to success in MLM:

NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES QUIT!!

Keep working at it, keep grinding away through the successes and failures and you will attract wealth. Nothing in life comes without work, and MLM is just a mindset. Its an understanding that your involved in a numbers game.

I think that people get caught up in hearing about all the money they will make and then become discouraged by all the rejection later. If it's an excellent product than you will believe in what you have to offer and will stick with it longer, then you'll see some results.

I believe in MLM, somewhere down the line, someone is not getting paid but paying instead...

I've managed to steer clear of MLM's. Around here, MLM means scam, I think it's listed that way in the dictionary. But, that is very sound advice from dean, and anyone who IS planning to check into an MLM should take it to heart.

rkasso, perhaps you lost more because you didn't recruit enough... you didn't lose actually, you were a consumer of a product but did not sell well enough.
