Default Paypal Scams

For those of you who have a Paypal account do you ever get fraudlent emails? I get a few of them each month. One I recently got stated that my Paypal account has been suspended due to fraudulent purchases and to log into my account via the link provided in the email. I forwarded the email to Paypal and they emailed me back stating that the email did not come from them and it was a scam. I wonder how they get your email address and know that you have a Paypal account?

I've been getting phishing type emails designed to think they are from Paypal. The very first one I received almost fooled me, it was back in April or May 2006, and it said something like someone had stolen my account. I almost clicked on the link in the email. Then I thought hmm, maybe I should just close this email and log into my account from a different browser. Well I logged into my account and everything was fine. Now I don't click any links from Paypal emails just to be safe.

Yes do not open these emails. Paypal also has a place where you can report such emails. I think it is important for people to do this so they can start to attempt to crack down on potential hackers.

No I have not received such mails but I have received warning from Paypal to be aware that there may be a possibility of receiving such mails. Paypal has mentioned they only send their users mails about any activity in their account. Like payment received, Check issued etc.

Vigilance is the key. You really have to pay a close attention to the link. Sometimes the link is even deceiving because it looks similar to the genuine link (e.g. e-gold.com vs e-qold.com). See the difference?

A couple months ago I got one or two of them every day! I was never fooled though luckily but everyone else might not be as aware.

If ever I receive such type of email, I find myself typing harsh words thru the log in information so that these words will reach the source. The source deserves this treament anyway.
