Default Beware: False e-mails from banks (aka phishing)

Many people have been victims to a type of scam called "phishing". Phishing is a method of identity theft carried out through the creation of a website that appears to represent a legitimate company.

Maybe you have received these kinds of e-mails... I know I've gotten messages from Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Royal Bank of Canada, PayPal and numerous others that I don't even bank with! Does this sound familiar?

What do you do when you receive a phishing e-mail? Don't open it! Don't click on any links inside and don't give out any of your information. The best thing to do is just delete the message entirely. If you're not sure whether it's a legit message, delete it anyway and then proceed to your bank's website by entering the web address yourself.
