Work At Home Job VS. Home Based Business
There are many people looking for work they can do from home but here is the main issue I have found.
They are looking for a work from home "job" and not a home based business. What has resulted is a ton of misleading advertising and scams such as the "legitimate home jobs" sites that promise to get your work from home in return for a fee.
What you are going to find after you sign up is they are going to present a bunch of opportunities that really are home based business opportunities and many of them are legitimate.
It is how they are marketed that make people believe they are a scam.
Now why do they do this?
It's very simple and goes back a "job" vs "business". People marketing business opportunities know there is a much larger market of "home workers" than there are "home business people" and thus a larger potential customer base. It's a numbers game that they play. In other words if you present your work from home "job" (really a business) to enough people looking to work from home then you are going to get a percentage to sign on.
It's a shame that more people are turned off by truly great opportunities because it was presented to them initially as one thing and then turned out to be something else. Immediately their "scam alarm" goes off.
I prefer to present things as they are to people and find that I get much better response in return. If it's a business then call it is business.
There are work at home jobs out there if that is what you are looking to do. Many customer service positions where you can get paid $7-$10 or so for fielding calls from your home and most are only 4 hour shifts daily.
What I would say is if you are going to do that why not start a home based business and here is why.
If I take a customer service position at, let's say $8/hr, in a given day I am going to make $32 for my 4 hour shift. With just any one of the business dealing I work online I can make that $32 before I even get up in the morning most days.
I don't believe I sell to people but rather provide information they may be looking for and let them decide if they want to buy it or not. The key with me personally is presenting information on many different things so I always have someone looking to buy what I am presenting.
You can have a home business without buying and shipping products. You can have a home business that does not involve selling directly to people over the phone or cold calling. You can have a home business that is easy to start and run.
There are tons of ways to go about doing it and you have to find what works for you personally.
A job is a job and it does not matter if you're at an office or at home. It's still a job. Good work from home jobs that pay good fulltime money are hard to come by unless you have some developed skills you can market.
Just be careful when looking at "job" opportunites and do not be surprised if it turns out to be a business.
The company I am a Independant Business Owner with presented me with a good opportunity and I took it. My sister was contacted by the very same company a few years ago and she was tured off to it becuase the person presented it to her as a job and then when she expressed interest they went into the fees.
Immediately she said I am not paying a fee for a job.
That is how most people feel and I do not blame them because that is how it is marketed and sold.
